In the previous issues, we reviewed the events organized by Kalyanamalai at New York, Connecticut and Boston. From Boston, we went to Houston. Bharathi Tamil Mandram and Meenakshi Temple Society had together made all the required arrangements for Kalyanamalai’s programs in that state. Meenakshi Amman temple at Pearland made us wonder whether we were at Madurai or U. S. The temple has been constructed on a 5-acre land by Sri Ganapathy Sthapati and Sri Muthiah Sthapati. At the sanctum, the idol of Goddess Meenakshi has been installed in the middle whilst those of Sri Sundareswara and Venkateswara have been installed on both the sides. The images of Maha Ganapathy, Aiyappa, Subrahmanya with His two consorts Valli and Devyani, Sri Rama along with His consort Sita and with Lakshman and Anjaneya, Radha Krishna, Durga and Kannika Parameswari have been installed at the ‘prahara’. As we were there during the period of Navarathri, we had the fortune of participating in the special puja as well as in the Suhasini puja.

As in the other states, here also we met the parents looking for alliances for their wards. A debate on whether the value of NRI boys has gone up or come down in the marriage market was conducted. ‘Kalyanamalai’ Mohan and I conducted the debate. Four persons belonging to that state spoke on behalf of each group. Their staunch love for Tamil language was evident from their argumentative skills.

From Houston, we went to San Antonio where also we organized the same event. San Antonio Tamil Association honored us with all respect and friendship. The U. S. visit proved a success in that Kalyanamalai had started its service of initiating marriages in U. S. too through many colorful events and meets. The service will continue to benefit the Tamils living abroad.
