Potpourri of titbits about Tamil cinema - J. Jayalalitha

Jayalalitha, kalyanamalai tamil weekly magazine

Music

When I remember the music I immediately remember the name of Thirumathi M.S.Subbulakshmi. I am an ardent fan of her. In fact I learned music for some years when I was young and stopped learning due to paucity of time. Now I am learning the music again for the past few months. My song in the film Adimaipen was not received well due to lack of practice. But the urge to learn music and sing was always with me.

When I started practising again I was offered a chance to act in the film Krishna leelai. While shooting for a particular song, A.P.Nagarajan the director of the film suggested me to sing it. I was a bit hesitant but Thirumathi S.Varalakshmi volunteered to train me in singing the song. The music director of the film Thiru S V Venkataraman asked me to sing a song. I sang the song ‘Ennathan Ragasiyamo Ithayaththilay’ - a well known song from the ilm ithayakkamalam. He appreciated my voice.

A ragamaligai song with a mix of Bageswari, sunatha vinothini, Bheemblas ragas sung by me was recorded. After that I sang in a number of films. My humble thanks goes to all the three who encouraged me.

Happiness

Normally my mother will not appreciate any of my performances. But she liked my performance in the film 'Engiruntho Vanthal'and appreciated it. I equate my mother's blessings to that of Vasishta who called viswamithra a Brahma Rishi.

Comfort need to be enjoyed as an when it is available for you.

I thanked Jayalalitha and left that place.
