Laughter

I was studying at a convent in Bangalore. When the other schools had declared three day holiday for the Deepavali, it was only one day holiday for us. Feeling very sad about it we were discussing it during the Sanskrit class. The Sanskrit teacher never liked us and had never wasted an opportunity to scold us. When he enquired us about the reason for our sadness, He got angry with us scolded us saying that we were always interested in holidays and never in studies. He ordered us to write 'we will not talk in the class’ 200 times as an imposition. We were upset and angry. The next day when we found him sleeping in the teachers' room, we went close to him without making any noise and tied the roller skates to his feet. We light some crackers a little away from his head, came out of the room and shouted fire. The bursting noise of the crackers woke him up and he fell down due to slipping roller skates tied to his legs. We all had a hearty laugh, but, the very thought about the child's prank really makes us sad now.

Good thoughts

I came state first, in the matriculation examination. I was so excited and unable to control my happiness. My mother called me and admonished me not to have any arrogance for the achievement. She further advised me not to become heady and give respect to everyone. I still remember her guiding words and those words continue to help me to move in the right direction always.
