Aditya had decided to go out and enjoy with his friends on the following Saturday. Due to pressure of office work, he couldn’t be in touch with any of his friends and he wanted to meet his circle of friends on that Saturday. But his wife Ranjini, unaware of Aditya’s plans, had planned to go for a movie and have dinner in a good hotel on the same Saturday. She wanted a break as she was finding life becoming monotonous inside four walls. When she told Aditya about her plans, he rejected her plans, dismissed her words totally telling that he had already planned to enjoy the weekend with his friends and so nothing could be done. Also, he told Ranjini that he would be in Bangalore during the next weekend and her movie plan should wait for two more weeks. Aditya’s refusal to accept Ranjini’s plans didn’t hurt her as much as the indifference he showed while dismissing her words. And, his hurrying up to talk to somebody over phone disappointed her lot more.

The above situation can be handled in two ways. Aditya doesn’t show any feeling of guilt or remorse over his behavior towards Ranjini. And, Ranjini, on her part, indulges in self-pity that she is never taken seriously by her husband, that she is working hard for the family with no recognition, that men are always lucky, they get their things done, so on and so forth. She blames herself for having born a woman. And, she gives vent to her anger by shouting at her son who is very hungry and crying. This situation continues for two days and the atmosphere at home becomes unsavory. The above – said reaction is the usual one. But there’s a different way of solving the situation.

Though Ranjini is disappointed with Aditya’s behavior, she doesn’t want to sit and lament. She takes her son to the beach when Aditya leaves to meet his friends on Saturday. She and her son play standing near the waves, they eat ice-cream, etc. After reaching home, her son falls asleep. She plays her veena. Then, listening to some pleasing music, she prepares gulabjamun, a favorite of her husband and stuns him the next day by serving it. And, she finishes reading writer Sujatha’s novel. When Aditya returns at night, she receives him with a warm smile. Aditya, moved by her flawless love, buys tickets for a movie the next day and gives her a happy surprise in return.
