M. V. Rajamma, the favorite ‘Amma’

M. V. Rajamma had acted as the mother of great heroes, right from MGR and Sivaji Ganesan. She belonged to Karnataka State. Her first movie was ‘Radha Ramana’, a Kannada film in which she donned the role of the heroine. She attracted all with her beauty. She entered Tamil cinema through the film ‘Uthama puthiran’ in which she paired with P. U. Chinnappa. And, she paired with P. R. Panthulu in ‘Vijayalakshmi’, with T. R. Mahalingam in ‘Gnanasoundari’ and with Manohar in ‘Penn manam’. She was the top heroine during this period. She married Panthulu as both fell in love with each other during the film shooting of ‘Vijayalakshmi’. After marriage, she became the favorite mother for all the leading heroes. She was the mother of Sivaji Ganesan in ‘Karnan’ and Baghapirivinai. Even today, when we watch her movies, we feel endeared to her as our favorite mother. She lives in our hearts and gives the beautiful feeling that she is still with us in our house!
