Suhabrahma rishi is one of the foremost among the Siddhas, blessing people and even sages even today! He is the son of the great Vyasa Maharishi, who is the son of sage Parasura, the grandson of the yogic saint Vasishta. All the Siddhas look up at Suhabrahma rishi due to his great lineage.

Siddhas are blessed with special powers. Suhabrahma siddha saved a human from the clutches of death. The story goes as follows – King Parikshat incurred the curse and wrath of sage Sameekha when, in anger, he threw a dead snake as garland around the neck of the sage when the sage was performing ‘yoganishta’. The enraged sage cursed that whoever did the act, would die of snake bite within a week’s time. When the news reached the king, he became panicky. He fell at the feet of the sage but the sage didn’t show any mercy. He affirmed that his words would come true.

The retinue of the king took special care to protect the king against any possible mishap. But, the king remained panicked. As all the Siddhas including Agasthya believed that Suhabrahma rishi alone could save the king from the curse, they went to Suhabrahma rishi and sought his help. Suhabrahma asked them whether they couldn’t save the king. To this, they said that the power of penance that sage Sameekha had accumulated would surely make his curse do its course and so only Suhabrahma could save the king because his lineage was that powerful. Suhabrahma rishi was convinced and he sat near the king so that the snake could not come near him. The cobra couldn’t go near the king due to the presence of Suhabrahmarishi by his side. It left the spot after having failed in all its repeated attempts to bite the king. As the time-limit of the curse expired, the curse lost its validity. Sage Sameekha couldn’t pronounce the curse again as his power was neutralized by the power of sage Suhabrahma siddha. The king was so happy and prayed to Suhabrahma that thereafter, no evil should befall anybody because of him. Granting the request of the king, Suhabrahma said that he would come in the form of a parrot to the rescue of those who prayed for his help. “I would be present in invisible form and would help all those at near-death condition, irrespective of the fact whether they are sinners or virtuous people. I would be supportive not only to humans but also to celestials. I respect devotion,” Suhabrahma rishi promised.

And, Suhabrahma rishi is keeping up his word till today. Wherever we see a parrot, we can believe that Suhabrahma rishi is there inside the bird. He is helping people out of the way and performing incredible tasks while being one among us!
