A bath in Ganges River during ‘grahanapunya’ time is equivalent to the ‘punyam’ that we get by donating thousand cows!

The crowd diluted after deeparadhanai was over. We took a bath in the river. We didn’t carry change of dress, but we didn’t bother about it! We bought some towels which were being sold there. It was 7 p.m. in October. The weather was so chill. There were iron chains and rods on the steps that led to the river for the convenience of the devotees. On the first dip, the body shivered. The second dip made us feel the Gangasnaanam. The third dip intensified our belief that our sins of the previous jenmas as well as the present one will be neutralized by this bath. My mother said, “They say that a bath in Ganges River at grahanapunya time is equivalent to the punyam that we get by donating thousand cows. The delay in the morning seems to be a blessing; otherwise we would not have been here at this time.” I wondered, ‘If we had started earlier, we would have had Gangasnaanam in the morning itself. We would have missed the aarthi. Whatever happens in this trip, it is sure that it is for our benefit only! Our experience at each place rendered this belief true.’

We stayed in Haridwar overnight. My brother-in-law Mr. Mohan and his wife joined us there the next day morning. The next day, we traveled to reach Rampur. The experiences we got during the journey …
