Mostly, women do not show much interest and concern in maintaining their soles; they are always concerned about their faces only. We shouldn’t forget that soles are an important part of our body. The soles gather dirt, bacteria etc. when we walk. So, it is very much required that we keep our soles free of germs and dirt.

Here are some tips for maintenance of the soles:

Usually, the skin on the edges of the soles and on the heel will be rough due to the presence of more dead cells. If we ignore these areas, infection might occur. Also cracks might develop. The dead cells can be removed by scrubbing using pumice stone, which is available at shops.

First, take a vessel with a wide mouth. Pour lukewarm water to which liquid soap has been added into the vessel. Keep your feet immersed in the water for about ten minutes. Then, scrub your soles with the stone and remove the dead cells. If you repeat this process once in week, your soles will become smooth and will look beautiful. Cracks develop when the sole becomes dry, losing its oily texture. Apply moisturizing cream or lotion on the soles either after bath or before retiring to bed. Wear cotton socks after applying the cream. Avoid walking without footwear. Keep checking for the presence of any sore or scratch on the soles.

When buying shoes or slippers, you should wear them standing and check up whether they are comfortable. Unsuitable sizes will cause sores.

You can do honey-footbath at home itself. Prepare a mixture of honey, liquid soap and vanilla extract, each one tablespoonful. Then, add two tablespoonful sweet almond oil and lukewarm water to the mixture. Pour the mixture into a wide tub, keep your feet immersed in it for about ten to fifteen minutes. If you keep repeating this process often, you can ensure that your feet and soles remain soft, clean and nice.

If cracks have developed on the soles, apply heated gingili oil on the cracks. Also, you can prepare a mixture of beeswax (3 tbs) and gingili oil (1 tbs), heat the mixture moderately and apply the same on the cracks.

There are many simple ways to maintain the feet and keep them clean and beautiful. Even if we keep following any one of these methods, silky and beautiful soles will become our pride!
