Cotton, the summer dress …!

In Tamil Nadu, cotton saris are equally popular on par with pure silk. Kancheepuram, Salem, Pudukottai, and Madurai are large hubs for saris. Threads and zari are mixed in making borders that have beautiful designs like peacock, swine and mango. Chungadi saris are so popular that they have become part of every household. Cotton weaving was started very late in Kerala. Karaikudi saris are not dyed; they are being woven with golden borders and pallus in high quality. Tie & dye cotton saris are popular products of Rajasthan and Gujarat. The prints include scenes of folk dances by girls and the saris are made in bright colors. Andhra Pradesh is a hub for Narayanpet saris.

In each state, handloom saris, printed cotton saris, embroidered saris and zari-work saris are manufactured to suit the taste and requirements of the women population. And saris for elderly women are also manufactured to cater to the needs of the group. Dress materials are also available in cotton with beautiful prints and ornate workmanship. Also cotton dresses with stone-work, pearl-work and bead-work are available. For men dothis, kurtas and pants are available in cotton.
