It is only in winter that both our hair and skin become drier. We’ve to take extra care during this period. It is always better to protect them before the damage occurs.


For silky hair

During winter, the problem of dandruff will be more intense. The part of the scalp which has been affected by dandruff becomes dry and the hair starts falling. To prevent dry scalp, oil bath, twice a week is recommended. Anti-dandruff shampoos of good quality should be used to wash the hair. Lukewarm water should be used. This will ensure prevention of dandruff. Ultra moisturizing hair mask renders the hair oily to some extent. Those, with dry hair can use this mask.


For beautiful eyes

Eye creams can be used at nights before going to bed. These should be used daily. Dark circles under the eyes will disappear in course of time with regular use of the cream. Sound sleep and a peaceful mind will add to the beauty of the face. Before going out, sun protection cream or moisturizer should be used for foundation. After applying eye-liner, mascara can be put. Waterproof mascara in brown shade will be very attractive. Drinking lot of water is good for the health. It is very much necessary that healthy food is taken during the time of winter.


For soft lips

During winter, cracks might appear on the lips as they become dry. Lipstick with moisturizing effect should be used to prevent cracks. Toothbrush can be used to eliminate dead cells from the lips. While brushing the teeth, lips can be brushed softly to remove dead cells. Then Vaseline can be applied on the lips. Lip-balm can also be used to preserve the softness of the lips. This balm is available in different flavors.

For smooth skin

Aloe Vera, coconut oil and herbal oils can be used as natural sunscreens. These will have moisturizing effect on the skin. During the winter, to prevent dryness of the skin, moisturizers should be used. Shower gels should not be used in winter because they contain more alcohol which would dry the skin. Prepare a mixture of Epsom salt (½ cup), olive oil (1 tbl), lemon or orange or grape juice. Apply the mixture on the skin and massage softly in circular movements. This will remove wrinkles. Even those with oily skin should not neglect their skin during winter times. They can use water-based moisturizers. These will add glow to the skin. Green gram powder is the best suited for getting a glowing and soft skin. Before applying the powder, coconut oil can be applied and left to stay for some time.


For soft feet

If the ankles and the feet are rough, body scrubs can be used. Avoid hot water, use lukewarm water for bathing. After bathing and wiping with towel, moisturizer should be applied. Also, shower body lotions can be used. Before retiring to bed, wash your hands and legs and wipe them dry with a clean towel. Then, apply moisturizing cream or lotion and wear light cotton socks and gloves. This will prevent cracks from appearing.
